The Truth Concerning BoTox (Nov 04)
Sydney Botulinum therapy (B.tox for short) is now established in Sydney society in fact it is becoming a grooming necessity for people in the city.
But I am frequently astonished when I hear the ridiculous stories in connection with this procedure.
We strongly recommend you review our brilliant renowned source for Sydney Botox infos.
Here I have listed some of the more common stories that I encounter in my work as a physician at Star Cosmetic Medicine located in Pyrmont, Sydney.
Fallacy no. 1: B.tox will freeze my expressions!
Beneath the skin of the face are about 60 muscles. These muscles usually perform harmoniously, but from excessive movement lines or wrinkles may begin to appear. Too large a dose of B.tox have the effect of the forehead looking too relaxed. The dose injected by most physicians make you look ‘refreshed’, yet you will of course maintain your facial expression.
Thus the proper amount of B.tox in the appropriate site means one can get a reduction in the lines without reducing facial expression.
Fallacy no. 2: B.tox is a deadly poison!
This to a small extent is right. Its scientific term is Botulinum Toxin Type A. Too great a quantity may relax muscles that you do not want relaxed and even may cause serious illness.
Pharmacists have an old saying ‘everything is poisonous - it all depends on the dose’. A large dosage of any medication may bring on sickness. If you drink too much water it will result in death.
Fallacy no. 3: B.tox is painful!
Your hair is thicker than the hypodermic needles we use at Star Cosmetic Medicine. Numerous patients have said that the treatments aren’t as sore as being bitten by a bug. It is definitely not as traumatic as something like a vaccination.
Fallacy no. 4: My face will lose feeling!
Not true. Botulinum medicine works on the neuromuscular junction, not sensate nerves. Only the ability to relax muscles is affected by B.tox injections.
Fallacy no. 5. Once you begin B.tox you must continue or the lines become more noticable!
Once Again this is simply incorrect.
BoTox is expected to last for in the region of three months. Subsequent injections do last a few weeks more. The lines will slowly reappear as the muscle returns to normal. However they will certainly not be any worse than when you began.
As A Matter Of Fact any lines will generally be softer than if you had never had B.tox - even if you never continue the treatment. This, of course is mainly due to the fact your skin has had a ‘wrinkle holiday’ for a few months.
